One of the biggest questions I get asked is, "Why should I buy this when I can make it myself?"
It's a very good question. Most crafts look simple to do and with a quick look around it, you can easily figure out not only how it was made, but how to do it yourself!
So why bother purchasing one already made?
The old fashion reason - Time and Money.
The biggest one being Time.
I've spoken with many people who have taken the time to make one of these gifts, and the biggest complaint I hear is how long it took to put it together. Even the simplest crafts can take days to make! You have to lay out that time you need to make your gift and between having a full time job, maybe your own kids to raise and take care of, cleaning, and putting together your normal activities, it can be almost impossible to find that time to put into making a unique diaper gift!
Even these gifts - that I make myself for all of you - take HOURS to make. Some don't even feel it is worth the time to make. Think about it - if you're being paid minimum wage, you'd make more working your job than selling one of these gifts yourself!
The second complaint is Money.
For those of us who have children, we know the price of baby clothes is ridiculous these days. $20 for ONE onesie? Sound insane? Well take a stroll into your local Babys R Us! To make one gift for one person, it can take triple the cost you'd spend just buying one of my gifts for them. The items I get, I purchase in bulk in order to make several baby shower gifts, not just one so I'm able to sell these baby shower centerpieces to you without throwing away my money.
So if you have a way to avoid the overpriced items and the time to put it together, go for it! Make your perfect baby shower gift! But if you don't, your best option is purchasing one already made at a very low price! You can't lose either way!
